Becoming a Hero: A WestCare GulfCoast-Florida Client and Army Veteran Saves a Life at a Bus Stop with Narcan

  • Post category:Florida

On April 19, 2024, a WestCare GulfCoast, Inc. Residential Program client, helped saved a life by assisting in administering Narcan to an unresponsive individual.

While getting off the bus returning from work to WestCare, our client and Army Veteran, Jeremy E. was quick on his feet and immediately responded when he saw a person at the bus stop was laying there, unresponsive. Due to his knowledge of Narcan from the training WestCare clients received, he ran into the building and obtained a box of Narcan. Then he assisted staff that followed him to administer the Narcan to the unresponsive person until police and paramedics arrived.

Jeremy and WestCare GulfCoast serve as a testament to the power of overdose and Naloxone education and the supportive community that fosters it.
