In June, the staff and clients of VETCare were invited to Twin Creeks Equine for a Veteran training on QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade, Refer. The host, Susan Fischer, and her husband graciously hosted this training and provided time with the horses as well as an amazing catered meal. There was even a six-week-old foal named Vegas! The trainer was Doug Akin with Polk County Behavioral Health’s Crisis Team. Alongside him was Eric Enderle, Veteran Services Officer with Polk County’s Veteran Service Office.
Thank you for letting us be a part of this experience. VETcare’s staff were humbled to see smiles on the faces of our Veterans that we have not seen before. We have been invited back and will be fully taking advantage of this amazing opportunity!
