Service & Scope
WestCare Georgia's CARES 2 - Outreach, Education and HIV Testing Program provides street and community outreach and participates in health-related events planned by other community providers. Age-appropriate, evidenced-based HIV education and life skills groups address the unique needs of specific groups of people, including people in residential treatment programs, independent living programs, group homes and in the community. In addition to rapid testing using OraSure, staff assists people in finding support services for other medical issues, including mental health and substance use disorders. Any person who tests positive for HIV is referred for confirmatory testing and receives support and referrals for additional services so they can receive proper medical care for this treatable disease.
