Intake/Assessment

At WestCare Nevada, our team of assessment and intake staff work together with each individual person to help determine the most appropriate course of treatment and available resources. The assessment is the initial step in the treatment placement process.

Community Involvement Centers: Intensive Outpatient & Partial Hospitalization Programs

The Community Involvement Center provides level I, level II and level II.5 outpatient services for men and women. These services are provided in gender-specific settings (separate men's and women's groups) to help provide education/treatment about drug and alcohol substance abuse. The program focuses on interrupting negative behavior patterns, teaching effective methods of coping and decision-making skills as well as providing a support network for adults, through the evidence-based practices.

The Las Vegas location also provides programming through Connections Fatherhood F.I.R.E. (Family-Focused, Interconnected, Resilient & Essential) which promotes the need for responsible fathering while connecting fathers with education, training and community-based resources and providing them with opportunities to positively interact with their children.

The rural locations in Pahrump and Tonopah, Nevada provides Drug Court Services for NYE County in a three-phase system to adults as well as Level I outpatient services. The Pahrump site also provides level II.1 intensive outpatient services to age- and gender-specific group settings through evidence-based practices.

Harris Springs Ranch Men's Residential

This is one of our longest-running programs, providing residential substance abuse treatment. The program is a therapeutic community designed for men suffering from substance use and co-occurring disorders. This model embraces the concept that behavioral change can occur through positive peer support and peer pressure. This model represents a highly structured environment with well-defined attitudinal and behavioral boundaries. Employing community responsibility, as well as earned progressive advancement of status and privileges, is part of the recovery and growth process.

Serenity Women's Residential

The Serenity Program is designed to meet the specific needs of women 18 years and older in a residential setting. This program gives the women the opportunity to accept responsibility, problem solve, build self-esteem and respect themselves and others. Treatment is based on a gender-responsive modified therapeutic community model. This model embraces the concept that behavioral change can occur though positive peer support and peer pressure. In conjunction with individual and group counseling, education and self-help support groups, a client learns that destructive behavior is self-defeating and works on issues that will diminish this behavior as well as reinforce positive lifestyle choices. This model represents a highly structured environment with well-defined attitudinal and behavioral boundaries. The model employs community responsibility as well as earned progressive advancement of status and privileges as part of the recovery and growth process.

Healthy Families Residential for Pregnant & Parenting Women

Healthy Families is a residential program designed to meet the specific needs of pregnant and/or postpartum women, their children, and other affected family members. The program gives the women the opportunity to eliminate their dependency on alcohol and/or drugs, decrease incidents of low birth weight, assist in retaining custody of their children and re-unification with other children, become economically self-sufficient, accept responsibility, problem solve, build self-esteem and learn to respect themselves and others. The program also provides a parenting component that assists the women in learning how to effectively parent and form healthy, loving bonds with their children. The program is a gender-responsive modified therapeutic community model. The program provides a support environment for women and their children. The family treatment approach, which allows women and their children to live together, plays a significant role in the recovery process and facilitates the development of healthy family roles and behavior patterns. This is the only program of its kind in Southern Nevada that provides treatment for women with their children who are affected by substance abuse.

Women’s Transitional Living Program (TLP)

The TLP program offers a safe, alcohol/drug-free environment that provides those in recovery the opportunity to surround themselves with others who are pursuing the same goal of recovery and wellness. Clients are referred to the TLP by WestCare personnel and the facility administration. To be eligible for the THP, clients must be actively enrolled and compliant to all programming in Level 1 Outpatient or Level 2.1 Intensive Outpatient.

Men’s Transitional Living Program (TLP)

Veteran's Services

Homefront VA Transitional Housing

Reno's Homefront VA Transitional Housing is a new program with one to two bedroom apartments serving male Veterans. The program provides case management, life skills and wrap-around services to help residents establish independence and permanent housing. The 2-bedroom apartments are available in the Reno, NV area for up to 2 years, with 20 available beds. Our staff work with the State of Nevada and the local area Veterans' Administration to close the gaps in services that are offered to transitioning Veterans. The program also serves as a space where a Veteran can meet with Veterans service representatives from a variety of agencies.

Empowered Women Warriors Program

The Empowered Women Warriors Unit is at the Women's and Children's Campus in Las Vegas. This is a transitional living program designed to provide case management and assist homeless women Veterans in achieving stable housing. Our staff work with the State of Nevada and the local area Veterans' Administration to close the gaps in services that are offered to transitioning Veterans. The program also serves as a space where a Veteran can meet with Veterans service representatives from a variety of agencies.

Education

Healing Families

The Healing Families program is a one-day workshop provided monthly for the families and loved ones affected by a person's addiction. The program is taught by WestCare staff, experienced in the recovery and treatment of substance use and co-occurring disorders. Participants learn about addiction, prevention of relapse, self-care, setting healthy boundaries, communication, and available resources within WestCare and the community.

The program has been attended by more than 400 people since 2010, and has been well-received by participants.
