Back in September, our VETcare Staff attended the Mid-Willamete Veterans Stand Down at the Salem YMCA. The Mid-Willamette Veterans Stand Down is an event that is always held for our fellow Veterans seeking the services that they need. Whether it’s suffering from homelessness, seeking food security or assistance with Social Security benefits, vendors from across Mid-Willamette Valley will participate to provide such services.
Within the last six years, the state of Oregon has seen a 63 percent increase in unsheltered homelessness.
This year was an amazing turnout where we saw lots of Veterans. Their interest in our Veteran services touched each of our hearts, and we were able to successfully place a Veteran into our Transitional Housing Program on the spot!
We want to thank the Salem YMCA for inviting us for this event. It was great to see our fellow Veterans out here in Oregon to attend.
