Revive Awareness Day: A Community in Action

  • Post category:Florida

On June 6, the Guidance/Care Center (GCC) joined forces with the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County (DOH-Monroe), the Monroe County Coalition, and the Rural Health Network for a powerful, countywide outreach effort — Revive Awareness Day. This life-saving initiative focused on increasing access to naloxone and sparking real conversations about overdose prevention.

In just one day, eight teams canvassed the 120-mile stretch of the Florida Keys — from Key West to Key Largo — distributing 466 boxes of naloxone to local businesses, libraries, and residents. GCC staff played a vital role in this effort, offering not just education and resources, but care, compassion, and community connection.

More than a distribution drive, this was a chance to have authentic conversations with neighbors and business owners about the importance of being prepared to respond to an opioid overdose. The public response was overwhelmingly supportive — many shared personal stories, asked questions, and thanked teams for their presence and guidance.

This day reflected the true power of collaboration and community. We’re so proud of our GCC team for showing up with heart and purpose and thank all the partners who helped make this effort possible. Together, we are saving lives and UPlifting the Human Spirit across Monroe County.
